On February 21-23, the National Peanut Festival will be taken over by thousands of 8th-grade students from the three states Alabama, Georgia, and Florida. Wiregrass WORKS is hosting “Wiregrass WORKS Career Experience”. This event will host approximately 6,000 8th grade students from Barbour, Butler, Coffee, Covington, Crenshaw, Dale, Geneva, Henry, Houston, and Pike counties from Alabama. Early, Miller and Seminole counties from Georgia along with Jackson, Holmes, and Washington counties from Florida.
This “Career Experience” is a project of the Southeast AlabamaWorks, dba Wiregrass WORKS. Students will take part in a fun, educational and hands-on experience they will not soon forget. The expo is a way for students to become familiar with a broad overview of high demand, high wage career opportunities available in the area and to create awareness about exciting career options among students and educators while addressing workforce needs in this region.
Sponsorship positions will be available for the event. Wiregrass WORKS is also looking for business and industry leaders in the following Career Experience Categories: Agriculture/Agribusiness, Aviation/Aerospace, Construction, Healthcare, Logistics/Transportation, Manufacturing, Media/Technology, Public Service/Military & Utilities.

Wiregrass WORKS is a non-profit organization where professionals will provide a hands-on experience to students and answer questions over this three day period.  Experiences may include positions that are or will be in high demand in our region over the next 10 years.
